Q: Is it really that bad to show up late for a meeting or appointment. Everyone knows and understands that traffic is bad in Nairobi so they will give you that allowance. Mark
A: First impressions are lasting impressions. Traffic or no traffic, it is bad form to show up late for any meeting business or social. If anything get there at least 5 to 10 minutes early. If you are running late call ahead to let the other party know or reschedule.
My friend asked me to take down those pictures of her on Facebook that she is embarrassed of. I say she has no right after all it's my page. Who's right here? Judith
A: You should never post less than desirable pictures of anyone, let alone your friends on any social media platform without asking them first. Remember what goes around comes around!
Q: Here's one for you. I know you are not supposed to use your hands to eat in a formal setting but how does one eat certain foods like a banana for example - don't tell me with a knife and fork! Khan
A: Bananas and other foods like maize or oysters are considered 'difficult' foods to eat in formal settings so try to avoid them if you can. Keep it simple and you have less chance of embarrasing yourself or making a dining faux pax - my advice is to stick with the fruit salad. If you must have a whole banana, the correct way to eat it, is to peel the banana skin completely off, then cut it into small slices and eat them one slice at a time using the desert fork. Just don't peel, hold the banana and eat it the way we do at home, monkey-style.
